Actually there is an interesting observation here for the keenly
aware. A somewhat laid back and informal networking Site for IT-
Professional's with a focus on Software-Development and adjacent
opportunity's sounds like a winning proposition to me. Simply because
it is the quality of the contacts that makes all the difference and is
the key motivating factor for joining any network. If some key people
in the Industry gave it a strong endorsement that would go a long way
to attracting top talent to said network. Actually that is sort of
how this group works...
SAP got something started in that direction with their SDN (Shai
Agassi 2003 I think it was), but imo they were not aware enough of
what they had to follow thru on that basic idea and make it into
something really big, which is a shame. Its too vendor specific, also
quite formal and not exactly laid back....
A network of gold standard contacts of 25 Million would be worth
significantly more than a network of 500 Million unqualified and
probably triply redundant contacts... of teenagers giving invaluable
Makeup advice...
My 2 cents, about this very relevant while slightly off-topic matter.
