Hi Gophers,

Go 1.25 will soon be scheduled for release (🎉!) and as described on https://go.dev/s/release, it's time to plan for Go 1.26 development. Tentatively, we expect a soft reopening (for fixes only, not new features yet) next week, and a full general tree reopening shortly thereafter. Please see the tracking issue 73829 for the latest tree status.

Please use this thread to discuss your own plans for the 1.26 development cycle and to coordinate submission.

(Reminder, this thread is for things you *PLAN TO DO YOURSELF*, not things you want other people to do.)

If you plan on working on potentially risky changes, please follow our guide in the wiki.

Thanks,
Cherry for the Go team

I plan to work on more improvements to Green Tea, initially on work queue scalability and completing the work Austin started on dense span SIMD scan kernels.

In terms of smaller things, I have some changes I plan to land for new metrics in runtime/metrics, and I've got a CL to make entersyscall/exitsyscall faster that's a bit risky.

If I have time, I would like to start replacing the arenas GOEXPERIMENT with the regions GOEXPERIMENT. (If I don't complete it, the arenas GOEXPERIMENT will still be there.)
