Hi Gophers,

It has been 3 months, 24 days, 9 hours and 54 minutes (but who's counting, really) since we opened the tree for Go 1.27 development. Next week, on Wednesday May 20 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern time, the Go 1.27 development period will stop and the release freeze will start.

Please take a moment to read go.dev/s/release#timeline – the guidance there explains what the release freeze period is intended for, and what kinds of CLs are permitted and encouraged during the freeze. The first Release Candidate nominally targets the second week of June, so soon more of our attention will need to shift toward resolving what's left blocking it. Please plan accordingly and do your best to have the Go1.27 milestone reflect the latest status.

Thanks,
Dmitri for the Go team
