Go contributor summit at GoLab in November

Hi all,

In addition to the GopherCon US contributor summit in July, I wanted to put on people's radars that we intend to hold a contributor summit at GoLab in Florence, Italy, in November too. It will probably be smaller than the US instance, but at least Filippo and I plan to be there, and hopefully some of you too. More details to come as it gets closer.

Hi Russ,

I was wondering if you had pinned down which day the summit will be on. As I'm starting to plan travel days, it would be crucial to know if the summit is happening before or after the conference, for example. I think it might be easiest if it happened on the first day of the conference, where the schedule is all workshops.

I was away last week, sorry for the late reply. I'm 99% sure it will be on the workshop day, since that's the day GoLab has the hotel space. I've reached out to the organizers to double-check, and I'll let you all know when I do.

Hi Russ,

Hope you had a nice break. Let us know once you've confirmed the details
with the organizers. I'll be in Florence from the 9th until the 14th, so
the 11th definitely works.

I'll leave the day available for the time being, but I assume the summit
will only be four or six hours during the day?

I have confirmation that the summit is November 11, as expected.

Looking at the schedule on https://golab.io/schedule, it looks like

9:30-1pm is the morning session, with a break in the middle.

If any specific discussions want to continue after lunch I'm sure some of us

will be hanging around, but we can plan to just use the morning as the official summit.

I've confirmed that attending the contributor summit does not require having a ticket to the conference. Dmitri will follow up with a Google form for summit registration.

The Go Contributor Summit at GoLab 2024 will run in the morning of November 11, 2024 from 9:30–13:00. Space for this event is limited and we can't guarantee a spot to everyone, so please fill out https://forms.gle/qAUWwKf7iC9ixrCH6 if you’re interested in attending. Thank you!

There will also be a very informal 'Meet the Go team' session after lunch, 14:00–18:00, and a good opportunity to continue any conversations from the morning session. All GoLab attendees are welcome to drop by, ask any questions and hang out with us.

Going to Florence on November 10, two days earlier than I need to, to
be able to attend the Contributors Summit on November 11th - if I can
secure a spot.

I'm not sure if I qualify. Anyway, I have filled and posted the form
the day it was announced, September 19th. I don't know if a
confirmation after applying is expected to be sent back, but I
received nothing since that day. Asking in case the data didn't make
it to the other side for whatever reason.
