Hello gophers,

We are a week into the release freeze. Please refer to golang.org/s/release (November 1 section) for detailed guidance on this part of the release cycle. Since the freeze was a week late, we are currently targeting June 6 for Beta 1.

As of today, in the Go 1.19 milestone there are:
  • a total of 274 open issues
  • 50 issues with a release-blocker label, but not the "okay-after-beta1" label
    • The "okay-after-beta1" label means an issue is deemed safe to resolve before or after beta 1.
    • We have not yet started writing the release notes, but a full draft is also a blocker for Beta 1.
    • These 50 issues block the Go 1.18 Beta 1 release. If they're all resolved before June 6, the Beta 1 release can happen ahead of schedule.
  • 3 more issues with a release-blocker label, but also the "okay-after-beta1" label
    • The Go 1.18 release cannot happen without some resolution to these issues, but there's more time available to work on them.
We will post further updates on the release status in this thread.

Thank you,
Heschi

Hello gophers,

Thanks to everyone's work during the freeze, there’s been significant progress and we're down to under 10 issues that are still blocking the Go 1.19 Beta 1 release.

At this time in the Go 1.19 milestone, there are:
  • a total of 210 open issues
  • 9 issues with a "release-blocker" label, but not the "okay-after-beta1" label
    • We need to resolve these to be able to issue Beta 1.
  • 13 more issues with a "release-blocker" label, but also the "okay-after-beta1" label
    • These will become the focus after Beta 1 is released, as the Go 1.19 release cannot happen without some resolution to these issues.
We should be able to release Beta 1 next week if we can find a resolution for the remaining blocking issues in time.

There are 30 TODOs still visible at https://tip.golang.org/doc/go1.19 at this moment. Please keep an eye on active CLs at https://go-review.googlesource.com/q/path:doc/go1.19.html+status:open and help resolve these to unblock the beta release.

Thanks,
Dmitri

Hello gophers,

It’s been almost two weeks since we've released Go 1.19 Beta 1, and are now moving towards the next step, the release candidate. We have 13 issues that are still blocking the Go 1.19 RC1 release.

At this time in the Go 1.19 milestone, there are:

  • a total of 201 open issues

  • 13 more issues with a "release-blocker" label. The Go 1.19 release cannot happen without some resolution to these issues.

We should be able to release RC1 next week if we can find a resolution for the remaining blocking issues in time.

Please keep an eye on active CLs and help resolve these to unblock the RC1 release.

You can refer to go.dev/s/release for a more detailed description of the release process.

Thanks,

Joedian

Hi Joedian,

Is the Go 1.19 GA still targeted for August 3rd?

We really want to use this new version for Kubernetes 1.25 and our timelines are very tight to be able to do so ( https://www.kubernetes.dev/resources/release/#timeline ) hence asking.

thanks,
Dims

PS: we have tested against 1.19 and found 2 things, one was fixed in golang itself ( https://github.com/golang/go/issues/53989 ) and the other one around LookPath ( https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/111396 ) will be fixed in k8s itself.
