sumdb: client and server protocol for checksum database

Copied from golang.org/x/exp/sumdb/internal/sumweb
with types cleaned up:

Conn -> Client
Client -> ClientOps
Handler -> Server
Server -> ServerOps

                      Why should this be in ServerOps?

                      is there any example implementation of ServerOps interface that does more than returning r.Context()?

                      why should this be exported? Shouldn't the user use NewServer+ServeHTTP?

                    • Yes. Updated.

                    • Patch Set #3, Line 38: It is read and written (using WriteConfig)

                      Do you mean the value is written using WriteConfig? (I don't understand the 'read' part)

                    • Removed this. The point was to draw a contrast with "key" which is not written, but I added that explicitly in the WriteConfig docs instead.

                    • Patch Set #3, Line 126:

                      	if c.tileHeight == 0 {
                      c.tileHeight = 8
                      }

                      why not set this in NewClient and let SetTileHeight reject invalid values like height<=0?

                    • Setting the default here avoids having a separate "didSetTileHeight bool". But I added the check for invalid height to SetTileHeight.

                    • // NewContext returns the context to use for the request r.
                      NewContext(r *http.Request) (context.Context, error)

                      Why should this be in ServerOps? […]

                      I forgot r.Context existed. That should be fine. Removed.

                    • ServeHTTP is the name of the method you implement to be an http.Handler.
                      Users never call it directly.
                      The server needs to be registered at the expected paths
                      (maybe the overall web server does other stuff too).
                      These are the paths.

                      The example below says

                    • 	for _, path := range sumdb.ServerPaths {
                    • 		http.Handle(path, srv)
                      }

                      but a web server with multiple hosts that only wants to serve those on one host might do instead:

                    • 	for _, path := range sumdb.ServerPaths {
                    • return r.Context(), nil […]

                      Deleted.
