The refugees that the party rescued last session came from Coldstark,
also known to the shadar-kai as Padar-nur. Between the refugees and
Lin Mercyknife, you guys are able to gather a lot of information about
the city.

COLDSTARK FACTS
Coldstark, or Padar-nur as the shadar-kai call it, is a vast and
decaying city on the coast of the Stormy Sea in the Shadowfell, at the
mouth of the sacred Padar river. Hidden portals and shadow crossings
are said to lead to Coldstark's bright twin, the great port of
Gierstark in the mortal world, but the crossings are almost all closed
now.

Population: 30,000 and dropping fast. Two-thirds of the population are
shadar-kai, but shadowborn humans make up another 6,000, with dark
ones and other races numbering about 4,000. Coldstark was once home to
over three times that number, but disaster, invasions, plague and
emigration have taken their toll. Most of the outlying boroughs now
lie abandoned, including the northern third of the city, the Razorvine
Wasteland. The majority of the population dwells in Searise Ward in
the south, around the harbour at the mouth of the Padar river. The
second most populous ward is Winterstone, on the west bank of the
Padar river. The ward of Padar-vash, on the east bank, was home to
most of the shadowborn humans, as well as the rebellious House of
Vash. Since the civil war started, Padar-vash has become a warzone,
and refugees flee the ward in the hundreds each day.

Government and Defense: The shadar-kai monarch is King Magnus X,
called Magnus the Last behind his back by many. While he still
commands the loyalty of a slim majority of the city's shadar-kai, he
is seen as weak and indecisive, and has no surviving heirs. The King's
Coldguards, 200 strong, serve as a standing army and patrol the
harbour and the king's Searise Palace. In a recent development, an
Auxiliary Cohort of 100 planar mercenaries has been hastily formed to
put down rebellion. Wandering sellswords of almost every race and
creed have been recruited into the Cohort: bladelings, gith, minotaurs
and even a beholder.

The king's nephews Gartham and Tyshar are the next two royals in line
of succession, and are his main rivals, each commanding their own
private armies. Since the power-hungry Tyshar began his rebellion by
openly declaring his worship of Orcus, the eccentric religious zealot
Gartham has joined forces with the king to drive the rebels out of the
city, but so far Tyshar's forces remain at large in the Padar-vash
ward. Tyshar, now called the Red Master, is said to be summoning
demons and undead to add to his cult army, and the fighting grows
every day.

Inns and Taverns: The Tavern of Two Cities once served visitors from
Gierstark, but is now a cheap run-down alehouse for locals. Eight
Hours Inn is expensive and luxurious; the proprietors are priests of
Avandra who make extensive use of rituals to make guests comfortable.
The Garden of Silence is an abandoned noble's villa converted into a
surprisingly cheap and spacious guesthouse.

Supplies: Shadar-kai trading caravans can be found on the Avenue of
Whispers in Searise Ward. Many fleeing merchants have set up Sales of
Last Resort on the harbourfront even as they load their last
belongings onto ships fleeing the city, and the most surprising items
can be found there. In Winterstone, the heavily fortified Soldier's
Emporium is run by Abhen Marmish, a wizened old woman of unknown
descent, and provides mercenaries with quality weapons and armor
imported from far-off planes.

Trade: Until the war, Coldstark traded with other shadar-kai
communities such as Silver Gathering and Ravenshair. Relations with
human cities such as Gloomwrought and Gierstark have been strained in
recent years, but a small amount of trade still flowed from those
cities. The Gierstark thieves' guild runs a very limited amount of
smuggled goods through portals to Coldstark.

Temples: The Winterstone Temple (Raven Queen) is one of the largest
and most impressive temples in the Shadowfell, and Prince Gartham's
men have turned it into a fortified keep in case of attack. The Temple
of the Wounded God (Ilmater) tends to the poor and needy; Piera, high
priestess of Ilmater, is a niece to the king and fourth in line to the
throne. Other gods have smaller shrines scattered through the city;
Avandra's shrine is located behind Eight Hours Inn.

So like do we get any loot from the hoard? I'm thinking magical
fullblades with +2 enchantments perhaps? :P

And can I request to sit somewhere far from Chen this week? I'm fed up
of him and his snarky comments all day long

Just 800gp worth of art objects and masterwork weapons, plus a +2 Hide
Armor of Resistance (Cold) that needs to be resized before anyone
other than a Beholder wears it.

2350xp for the Eye of Flame, Gloomblade and Razorvine fight at the
waterfall.

I'll try to write up a session summary when I have time.

Also, I may not be inviting Chen to the game this Saturday.

Wow. Your game sounds so item happy. Saw you guys on Saturday but was
unable to greet you thanks to the perils or poor last minute planning
and the chaos of munchkins.
