Hey guys,

Thanks to those of you responded with yay or nay already. It looks like we have a good momentum going and we will be able to pull the group together again for this trip.

Below you'd find the answers to some questions I had about the trip. Please let me know (on my private email) if you have a my questions that you want to cover regarding the trip.

Subject: A Leadership Seminar Trek in 2016

Dear Serhan – Thanks, and here are our responses to your several questions.  Please let us know if any further information will help. – Best regards, Ed and Mike

1. What is the expected timing of the trip? (First week of July?, etc.)

The third week in July would probably be ideal, but if we get going on planning for the trip, the three of us could take a close look at our respective scheduled for next summer and identify a week that would work best for all.

2. What is the expected length of the trip? (7-8 days?)

We’d recommend six days of hiking, which we would mean we’d need to arrive at our jumping off location on a Saturday, and we would then all depart for home on the following Saturday.  Participants may want to add a day or two in advance of the hiking or afterwards to visit local museums or other attractions.

3. Can the trip be designed to have higher rigor level to include a summit to a local peak?

Yes, we should be able to include a peak for summiting, though it would need to be a peak that would not require technical climbing skills or equipment (i.e., no ropes, crampons, or ice axes).

4. Can the trip include teenage family members?

Yes, that will work (and we have had younger family members on our Himalayan treks in the past).

Mike, Ed,

We are very excited to be able to do a trip with both of you again. I am going to reach out to our group and get back to you by the end of the month.

I have a few questions regarding the trip:

1. What is the expected timing of the trip? (First week of July?, etc.)

2. What is the expected length of the trip? (7-8 days?)

3. Can the trip be designed to have higher rigor level to include a summit to a local peak?

4. Can the trip include teenage family members?

Looking to hear back from you soon.

Best,

Serhan.

Dear Serhan – We are delighted to learn of your interest in our Himalayan leadership seminar trek.  We are unlikely to mount a trek to the Himalayas next year, but we would be very interested in customizing a one-week leadership seminar trek for you and your classmates and friends in 2016.  We would suggest considering a trek similar to our week in the Dolomites either in the Dolomites again or in the Swiss or French Alps.  All three areas offer spectacular trails and great mountain accommodations.  We would want to have minimum of twelve participants if you might be able to mobilize that number among your classmates and friends, and we would work actively with you and them to customize the trek to optimize the leadership experience. – Ed and Mike

Dear Mike and Ed,

It has been a year since we started our trek at Dolomites. It was truly a fulfilling experience from many angles. Thanks for including us in your program again.

As I mentioned, a group of my classmates and friends, take up a similar challenge every year and organize "leadership venture" style events. If you are still organizing the Himalayan trek for the next May, and are interested in involving our group in that trip, this would be a good time to start talking about it.

The group involves Bala Sankaran (WG '06, LF) and about a dozen friends from various professional and cultural backgrounds.

Please let me know at your convenience of your thoughts.

Kind regards,

Serhan

Dear Serhan – Thanks for checking, and I apologize for the confusion.  The only readings are the ones that are in the reader that Justin Agnew just notified you for downloading.  Please let me know if any other questions, and looking forward to seeing you in the Dolomites next month. – Best, Mike

Mike/Brendt,

There was also a reading list attached to the itinerary in the very first mailing (zen, iceman, etc). Are those materials also required reading for the trip?
