to Going Home Greyhounds
Sunday, September 17
12 noon until 4:00 pm at the South Park Museum Building
2100 Brownsville Road, South Park, PA  15129 (If you plug this in to your GPS, please make sure to use South Park, PA and not Pittsburgh, PA. If you use Pittsburgh, you will not be directed to the park.)

The Going Home Greyhounds Pittsburgh Greyhound Gathering (previously known as The Annual Reunion Picnic) is right around the corner.  Be there …… rain or shine!!!  Pack up the family and the dogs (no small dogs please — for their own safety) and head out to The South Park Museum Building for an afternoon filled with fun, auctions and food. South Park has requested that unless there is a disability, we use the upper lot for parking as the cottage will be in use that day.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

A successful picnic requires an enormous amount of volunteer help.  Volunteer for an hour or the day!

Set Up/Clean Up – Arrive at 9:00 a.m. to set up and/or stay an hour or two after to help clean up.  Contact Mary Fratangelo at 412-310-1453 or harts...@gmail.com

GHG Sales Table – Contact Colleen Smith at 412-852-3123 or grey...@verizon.net

Basket/Silent Auction – Set up tables, display items, sell tickets, announce winners.  Contact Mary Fratangelo at 412-310-1453 or harts...@gmail.com

50/50 – Spend some time helping to sell 50/50 tickets.  Everything will be on one floor and inside and out is a level surface making it easy to walk around to sell them.  Please contact Colleen Smith at 412-852-3123 or grey...@verizon.net

For greyhounds and their owners, the event is for everyone to socialize, make new friends and get reacquainted with old.  There is no better way to do this than to participate!

We’ll kick off the event with a half-mile walk around the track.

Blessing of the Hounds – Cindy Pock will give the blessing followed by a memorial to those we lost during the last 2 years and the singing of Amazing Greys.  If you have lost a hound during the last year, please be sure to sign the memorial book located on the Basket Auction ticket table.

GHG Sales Table – Treasures for greys and their guardians.  The GHG sales table will have everything you need for humans and hounds alike.

50/50 – A greyt way to help out GHG and a chance for you, too.

Nail Trimmings – Theresa Mitchell will again be there to give our greys a “pawdicure”.

Bobbing for Hotdogs – Stop by the greyhound (kiddie) pool and watch your pups have some fun bobbing for those special treats.

Food – New human food vendor is “StrEat Food & Catering”.  Please stop by for all your favorite picnic foods.

Vendors – Please be sure to patronize our vendors.  We will have eight vendors this year:

Collars by Theresa - Collars and other dog related items
Carol Hillwig - Dog coats
3 P’s and a B - Personalized Paw Prints & Bones
Salty Paws - Doggie ice cream and treats
The Hero’s Closet - Animal related items
The Furgh - Self-serve dog wash and dog treats
Krafty Kreations - Greyhound mugs, tumblers, cutting boards, pictures, decals
April's craft table

Music – Jim Farrior will play tunes and announce events all day.  Please stop by and ask for your favorites.

We can’t forget about the Auctions:
Please note that we will be using the same procedure as last year for our Basket Auction.  When you purchase your tickets, just print your name and phone number on the next empty numbered line on the sheet at the ticket table.  Then just use the number associated with your name for your tickets.  You are done!!  We will be using all ticket stubs so please remember your number.  It doesn’t matter how many different times you buy tickets; you will always have the same number!  We will call the number associated with the prize.  To claim your prize, just tell us your name.  It’s that simple!

Donations:  The Auction Committee has been hard at work collecting items for our basket and silent auctions.  If you have anything you’d like to donate for one of our auctions, please get in touch with Mary Fratangelo (harts...@gmail.com or 412-310-1453) or Colleen Smith (grey...@verizon.net or 412-852-3123).

If there are any businesses you deal with on a regular basis that you think might make a
donation, please get in touch with Mary or Colleen and they can send you a donation request letter that you can present to that business.

Just a few reminders:  Cash is the preferred method of payment, but all charge cards will be accepted by GHG.  And, we always need baskets – so if you have some to donate, please bring them with you.  Also, if you are bringing an item to donate to the reunion, please arrive by 11:30 a.m.

Please watch your emails for updates and can’t wait to see everyone on September 17th!
