Just a reminder that The Pittsburgh Greyhound Gathering is this Saturday, rain or shine.  We have a large building - everyone can be inside in case of rain.

For those of you who aren't on Facebook, here are some things that you might not have seen, plus some additional information.

We will be giving out a 30-year commemorative wind spinner to the first 75 families to register.  (One per family.)

Steve Wirtz, renowned greyhound paper mache artist, will be selling his DIY kits.  He is also donating a wonderful sculpture for our silent auction.

The Wheeling Adoption Kennel will be bringing a couple of adoptable females.  And Deb from Wheeling is bringing a male from Town & Country Animal Hospital.  These dogs will be available for adoption, but not at the picnic.

In addition to our basket raffle, we will have some nice silent auction items, including:

Steve Wirtz sculpture
Vera Bradley set
Tickets to the Symphony and a $50 gift card to the Lemont
Quicksilver Foursome
Two framed greyhound pictures
Signed Pittsburgh Penguins Kevin Hayes jersey and framed autographed Sidney Crosby picture with certificate of authenticity

REMINDER:  Only cash and checks can be accepted.  (Our credit card machine doesn't work in the Museum Building.)

Kickoff Walk:  Depending on the weather, we will have a kick-off walk around the oval at 12:00.

Blessing of the Animals:  Cindy Pock will do the blessing and memorial service at 2:00.

Saturday, May 3, 2025
12:00 noon until 4:00 pm at the South Park Museum Building
2100 Brownsville Road, South Park, PA 15129 (if you put this into your GPS, please make sure you use South Park, PA, not Pittsburgh, PA.  If you use Pittsburgh, you will not be directed to the park.)

The Going Home Greyhounds Pittsburgh Greyhound Gathering is right around the corner.  Be there ... rain or shine!  Pack up the family and the dogs (no small dogs please for their own safety) and head out to the South Park Museum Building for an afternoon filled with fun, auctions and food.  Unless you have a disability, please use the upper lot for parking as the cottage may be in use that day.

Vendors are still welcome.  If you know of any vendors who may be interested, please contact Colleen Smith (412-852-3123) or Brian Hunt (412-818-8147) or email at:  volu...@goinghomegreyhounds.org

A limited number of indoor spaces are still available.  The event is rain or shine and if you choose to be outside, please bring a tent, table and chair.  Vendors must provide their own table/chair if vending inside, and vending space is on a first come/first served basis.  The vending fee is $20.

A successful picnic requires an enormous amount of volunteer help.  Volunteer for a hour or for the day.  Help is needed in the following areas:  Set-up/clean up, GHG sales table, and 50/50.  Please contact Mary Fratangelo (412-310-1453) or Colleen Smith (412-852-3123) or email at:  volu...@goinghomegreyhounds.org

The event is for everyone to socialize, make new friends, and get re-acquainted with old friends.  There is no better way to do this than to participate.  Festivities to include Blessing of the Hounds, GHG sales table, 50/50, nail trimmings, cool down pool for the greys, food, vendors, music, and we can't forget about the auctions.  There are always new and unique items up for grabs.

If you have anything you'd like to donate, please get in touch with Colleen or Mary (contact info above).  If you are bringing an item to donate, please arrive by 11:30.

If there are any businesses you deal with on a regular basis that may make a donation, please get in touch with Mary or Colleen and they can send you a donation request letter.

JUST A REMINDER:  CASH AND CHECKS ONLY THIS YEAR.  Unfortunately, our credit card machine doesn't work in the building.

Please watch your email and Facebook for updates.  We can't wait to see everyone on May 3.
