- Leadership Gap: India’s population is among the youngest in an ageing world. There is a dearth of capable leaders in India who can take initiative and have the passion to work for a sustainable, just, and peaceful world.
- Expanding from Self to Society: There is a dearth of Opportunities for young people to understand their passion, what is happening around them, the challenges of the society they are living in, and how to connect their skills and capabilities to address social issues.
- Understanding Rights and Responsibilities: There is a need for platforms that help Youth to learn their Rights and Responsibilities as a Citizen. Local and Global consciousness enable Youth to participate in changing and developing the world.
- Promote Social Entrepreneurship: Introduce Social Entrepreneurship as a means to bring innovative and sustainable solutions to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
What will happen during School for Social Transformation
At Winter School, during the initial days, We help participant understand self, their role in society, social challenges in the host and home community. The second stage is when they are encouraged to identify one area in which they would like to contribute, such as Gender & Equality, Education & Awareness, and Biodiversity & Climate Change. They will be engaged in a few projects in the host community under those themes. The final stage is when leadership and teamwork are discussed. Participants are provided with training and support to take the first step of their journey to become an active citizen.

A little about Ignite India:
“Ignite India” is a social enterprise that was started in 2016 in Kerala, and has operations across India. We are into personal and organizational capacity development and training, helping individuals and collectives to achieve meaningful success. Till now, we have completed more than 1700 learning programs across 7 states in India.
We help develop the capacity of people to build on their skills and aptitudes for their personal growth and the long-term success and progress of the community they belong to. We focus on personal transformation, corporate training, leadership, well-being, team building, capacity development, and leadership journeys.
We place “people development” at the core of leadership development, with the strong conviction that social capital creation and social change are the natural products of empowering human potential. We advocate the creation of inclusive and non-judgmental learning spaces for transforming people, communities, and organizations.
Furthermore, we strongly believe that every individual, when provided with opportunities, exposure, guidance, and mentoring, can realize and achieve their true potential. Since 2016, we have been facilitating capacity development sessions for the youth from different educational institutions in Kerala and 8 other states in India. Over the past 5 years, we have facilitated 1000+ capacity development programs and have engaged directly with more than two lakh young people.
We started as a collective of young people passionate about delivering capacity development and training sessions to youth. Ignite India was the name of the collective. At the same time, most of us were also engaged in other activities and contributed to this as our social responsibility without expecting any financial gains. However, by the end of 2019, a strong leadership team had emerged within the collective and had started working on the idea, investing full time into it.
