Greetings from E-FOREA!

 

Engineers’ Forum for Entrepreneurship Awareness (E-FOREA) is the e-cell of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal (www.nitk.ac.in). Awarded the best technical school promoting entrepreneurship education in India by Intel and NITIE, E-FOREA provides entrepreneurship education, incubation facility to start-ups and conducts flagship B-PLAN competitions and other business events.

 

E-FOREA is organizing its’ annual inter–collegiate entrepreneurship festival IGNITION ’11 from February 3rd-6th. This year IGNITION ’11 is being held in partnership with NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network), NSEF (National Social Entrepreneurship Forum) and VILLGRO.


IGNITION is part of NEN's Entrepreneurship Week India, the country’s largest entrepreneurship-awareness campaign having participation from over 350,000 students. In 2009, E Week India featured over 3500 events with more than 350,000 participants. 


Events at IGNITION 2011:

Keynote Address

By Mr Sajan Mathai - VP-HR Oracle India

The talk will focus on areas pertaining to leadership and its relevance for entrepreneurs:
  • The changing paradigms of New Age Leadership
  • Core competencies and attributes that are vital for excellence as CEOs, and budding entrepreneurs in order to bring in key differentiation and add value to the company.
  • Some unique and successful HR strategies employed at Oracle.
  • Scope for prospective internships at Oracle for students of NITK.
Panel Discussion on 'Social Entrepreneurship should be profit making' and also on theme of 'Ideas for India'.

Profile Description of Guests at Ignition 2011 -

  • Dr. Rajeev Roy - Professor from XIMB; Coordinator Business Incubator;Author Entrepreneurship Bestseller Oxford Press
Dr Rajeev Roy has over 9 years experience in the industry as well entrepreneurial experience in diverse fields ranging from food processing, to microfinance and business process outsourcing. He conducts training programmes on Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is also visiting faculty at Business Schools abroad. He has to credit several research publications centered on the theme of entrepreneurship and small business.
  • Mr. Abhijit Ray - Director of Unitus Capital, a financial advisory firm;Alumnus of Harvard Business School
 Mr Abhijit has over 13 years of diverse experience encompassing development finance, commercial banking and microfinance. He started his career with SBI and was most recently with the AGM of Small Industries Development Bank of India. He has attended the School of Applied Microfinance Programme (Mombasa, Kenya) and the Strategic Leadership Programme in Microfinance at the Harvard Business School.
  • Mr. Sourabh Sharma - Co founder of Milaap, a micro-financing institution 

Milaap is a micro-financing institution which raises capital for the poor. Mr Sourabh looks after the overall execution and online marketing strategy for Milaap. After running his previous startup MicroAppli successfully for two years, Sourav sold his application to OnMobile Global. He holds an honours degree from National University of Singapore(NUS).
