Tried searching for this topic but had no luck.

Just installed this for outlook 2007. Followed the instructions, it says it is authorized. However when I click sync now after about 5-10 seconds I get the following error message.

"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused."

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks.

Hi

this sounds like a general connection problem, a problem with the proxy configuration or the proxy itself, if you are behind one. Are you running this on a corporate network? Are you able to reach GMail from a regular web browser? Try setting up the proxy configuration differently under GogTasks Settings > Connection.

Kind Regards,

I am running it on a corporate network but I am able to use gmail through my browser. I also use a similar app to yours to sync my calendars. If 'use proxy settings from IE' is not working, can you suggest what manual proxy settings I need? or is that something I need to talk to my IT department about?

First, I'm not sure which server GogTasks is trying to reach when it fails. GogTasks communicates both with the Google back-end and the services of GogTasks (read more about it in the privacy policies).

Being able to reach GMail through a normal browser is an indication that you can reach the Google services, but you should also try the other URL (1) I list below. If you additionally try the GogTasks service (2) through the browser, we'll be able to see if the proxy stops you or if this is a problem with the GogTasks configuration or the app itself:

  1. Google: https://www.googleapis.com/tasks/v1/users/@me/lists?alt=json&maxResults=20 . Expect result: see attached Google-service.png.
  2. GogTasks: http://www.gogtasks.com/services/verifyLicenseKey.php5 . Expected result: see attached GogTasks-service.png
That said, I have a couple of configuration suggestions for you to try. If any of these solves the problem you need not bother with the tests above.

First you can try to enter the settings you have in Internet Explorer manually in the GogTasks connection settings pane. This should normally not be neccessary, as it is exactly what "Use settings from IE" is supposed to do. I have had experiences that it does not work for all my customers though. So if you could start Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options , Connections > Lan settings and copy the proxy server settings over to the connections pane of GogTasks - see if that helps. See attached image proxy-settings.png for illustration.

Second you may try to enable "use proxied license server" under the Advanced tab of the GogTasks settings.

Please let me know if any of this yields any result.
