CITY BOARDS & COMMISSIONS 

SEEKING RESIDENTS TO FILL VACANCIES

 

Multiple Boards and Commissions currently seeking to fill various positions. Residents of all backgrounds and abilities encouraged to apply

 

(MEDFORD)—The City of Medford is currently accepting applications from Medford residents to serve on one of many City Boards & Commissions.

 

Residents who are interested in serving on any of the boards and commissions below should complete the Board and Commission Interest Form available at www.medfordma.org/boards. Completed forms should be submitted via email to, BoardsandC...@medford-ma.gov or mailed to the Office of the Mayor at 85 George P. Hassett Drive, Room 202, Medford, MA 02155.

 

Residents of all backgrounds and abilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Medford city services are available to all residents, regardless of economic situation, race, gender, ability, benefit eligibility, or religious affiliation.

 

In addition to the boards and commissions below, residents are always encouraged to submit letters of interest for any board of commission listed on our website. Should vacancies become available on any city board or commission in the future, we will contact you for opportunities within your area of interest.

 

The Council on Aging

1 Available Position

 

The Medford Council on Aging is to be the primary advocate for Medford’s older adults. To that end, the Council evaluates, promotes, encourages and provides new and existing services that are intended to enhance the quality of the lives of elder residents.

 

The Council meeting the third Thursday of the month at 10 am at the Council on Aging, 101 Riverside Avenue.

 

Traffic Commission

1 Available Position

 

 

The Traffic Commission sets policy around the City’s parking procedures, traffic regulations and road accessibility. 

 

The commission meets on the second Tuesday of every month. 

 

Human Rights Commission

Multiple Available Positions

 

The mission of the Human Rights Commission is to protect the civil rights of Medford residents, reinforce a positive community atmosphere, work with community groups and agencies to educate, promote understanding to eliminate prejudice and intolerance, and to mediate within the community whenever needed.

 

The Commission normally meets the second Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm in Room 201 of Medford City Hall.

 

Civic Auditorium and Convention Center Commission

1 Available Position

 

The CACCC is responsible for maintaining the structural integrity of the building and enhancing its value as the premier performance space in Medford. The commission works with a variety of stakeholders – the management company, city departments, the Friends of Chevalier, architectural and design firms in its efforts. With these stakeholders, the Commission has developed a capital plan ensure its viability for years to come.

 

The Civic Auditorium and Convention Center Commission meets the second Wednesday of every month. 

 

Conservation Commission

1 Available Position

 

The Medford Conservation Commission is responsible for the administration of environmental laws and policies, open space protection and management, water management, and preservation of natural features of the environment.

 

The Conservation Commission meets the first and third Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm.

 

Dog Park Committee

2 Available Positions

 

The Dog Park Commission is tasked with reviewing and assessing the needs and policy guidelines for current and future dog parks in Medford.

 

The Dog Park Committee generally meets once every 3 months.

 

Energy & Environment Committee

Multiple Positions Available

 

Our mission is to promote policies and actions that improve energy efficiency, encourage conservation, and increase the use of renewable energy to meet our present needs while considering future generations of the Medford community.

 

The Energy and Environment Committee generally meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month. 

 

Historic District Commission

1 Available Position

 

The Medford Historic District Commission consists of members appointed by the Mayor and interested in historic preservation. The Commission membership is generally made up of residents of the individual Districts, real estate professionals, architects, preservationists, attorneys, and interested citizens. The Medford Historic District Commission is separate from, but works in tandem with, the Medford Historical Commission.

 

The Historic District Commission meets on the second Monday of the month.
