Please join us Saturday, July 10th to help improve trail
conditions on West Cuesta. The results of this year's abundant rain is
apparent in the West Cuesta vegetation--it's huge! Current trail
visibility is minimal on much of lower Morning Glory. Plus, as you ride
and get pummeled with flowers, you also get up close and personal with
the bees in all of those blooming bushes. We will be working primarily
to improve the brush conditions and end the vegetation flagellation on
Morning Glory, and possibly Shooters.
Also, for those of you disinclined to gardening, there are two gate
modification projects at the tops of Shooters and Botanical. West
Cuesta has recently become popular with off road motorcyclists, with
increasing trail encounters of trespassing motorcyclists on the
Botanical - Morning Glory - Shooters loop. Therefore, we will be working
to reinforce and extend the gates at the top of Botanical and Shooters.
6-8 people will be needed to assist with the digging and assembly of
stile gates at these areas.
Finally, because no major dirt work is planned, this can be a riding
event. Tools will be provided at the two staging areas (see below).
Alternatively, you can bring your own lightweight loppers, shears, saws,
etc.
So....9 AM, Saturday, July 10, plan on meeting at either 1) the
bottom of Stenner (not the Chicken Coop) on the bridge or 2) at the
parking lot at the top of the Cuesta grade. From either of these
locales, you may then ride (walk, samba, pogo-stick, etc) to Morning
Glory or, possibly a gate project. Specific volunteers will be needed to
coordinate head counting, swag dispersal
, and lead
trail work crews. If you know that you are going to be there and want a
particular role, please contact Greg R at gregon...@gmail.com
