Hi, All
Last Saturday's work on West Cuesta brought major improvements to sections of Botanical and Morning Glory and Elevator Trails.
Approximately 15 hardy folk braved sub-freezing temperatures and fog at the top of the Grade. They were rewarded by great working conditions after finally making their way down the trail. Many helped with drain maintenance and rebuilding while heading down the trail to arrive at the bigger work sites. Near the very end of Botanical, a large section of tread was contoured to effect outsloping and drainage. More noticeably, a system of large drains was built and staged to maximize efficacy, flow, and fun. Special thanks to the FASTA crew for helping to make a big difference!
Meanwhile, another 13 folks walked up from the Stenner trailhead and were busily amending some serious erosion and trail damage. Two mudslides on Elevator were addressed. A couple lower MG switchbacks, as well as one of the upper rocky chutes at the top of the trail, were re-armored and back-filled to provide a stable and esthetically pleasing passage. Finally, in a few key areas, large-scale soil importation has helped to contour the tread surface to establish outsloping and drainage. Net result?
A lot of high-quality, sorely-needed work for a well-loved trail, delivered by some seriously industrious and skilled folk--BRAVO!!!!
Thank you,
Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers
