I couldn't justify a $120 radio for a single-purpose 24/7 so I spent the ~ $30 for an RTL-SDR BLOG V.3.
It has the added advantage of a higher Bias-Tee current capability than the SDR Play, so I can use the 30dB gain NooElec SawBird[+] GOES (preamp/filter) which draws 180mA. This draw is too high for the RSP1A , so you would need to use the 20dB gain NooElec Sawbird GOES with the 1A.
