Welcome to the GOES Global Oceanic Environmental Survey
The forum will a focus on priority chemicals and the impact they have on marine biodiversity and primary productivity.
The oceans are responsible for sequestering more than 50% of atmospheric CO2 yet we may have lost 40% of the capacity over the last 50 years due to priority chemicals. We really don't know the impact of priority chemicals, but unless we can prevent their discharge into the oceans, the marine ecosystem will experience a cascade destabilisation over the next 25 years, the consequences of which will be much more serious than climate change.
