With the Windscribe FireFox extension my browser don't work anymore only a blank page and try to loading the website. When I disable Windscribe in the add-ons settings it works again. I de-and reinstall Windscribe but still the same problem. What's going on?

As I said, I am using LibreWolf (Firefox fork) browser. It has a security option enabled by default called "Enforce OCSP Hard Fail". If you disable this, Windsribe (and much other in-browser vpn extensions) will work just fine. Although, it is not recommended to disable this security option.

There are many benefits to using the Windscribe browser extension alongside our desktop app. The extension has a ton of unique features that can supercharge your online privacy, like Language Warp (spoofs your default language), Time Warp (spoofs your time zone), Location Warp (spoofs your GPS coordinates), and Split Personality (rotates your User Agent information). Installing the extension is easier than refusing to watch Morbius, and we've created an animated video to make it even easier! You can also read the step-by-step instructions if that is more your style.

7. The Windscribe extension will connect you automatically as soon as you log in. You will know you are connected when the extension icon turns green and you see ON in the top-left corner. Your IP address will also change from your personal IP to the selected VPN server's IP.

6. The Windscribe add-on will connect you automatically as soon as you log in. You will know you are connected when the extension icon is green and you see ON in the top-left corner. The IP address will also change from your personal IP to the VPN server's IP.

After the extension activates, I mean connects to a location, and I visit malicious sites that are included in Bitdefender's database, Bitdefender doesn't block them. It's bypassing Bitdefender's web protection. After closing the VPN connection, Bitdefender is able to block. Just for testing, I tried the same on Avast Free AV, and it doesn't have this issue.

I know it's an old thread and I've asked the question here before...
But now I have another problem, half a year ago I moved to Austria. Before that I connected windscribe, but it does not work well here for streaming. Many sites recommend express and nordvpn, are they really that good ?

R P M +1 pretty sure that the native implementation is taking over the VPNs DNS but when the Proxy is crested in the browser it might not take over. You could check the settings on the extension to see if they have a manual DNS option.

There is not proxy created from Windscribe extension and the proxy is not used in the settings. Also, the extension doesn't offer a DNS configuration. However, Windscribe desktop offers such option and it has been configured with NextDNS DNS address.

Pierre Cartier The extension has Robert that's also a DNS AdBlock of sorts. So if that's turned on could be an issue. If that all doesn't work maybe try to use another VPN provider as some VPNs take over the DNS and some don't.

WS extension adds ublock Adblock though on the browser layer. However I don't care about it as because I am using AdGuard on FF and Safari and also the desktop application where, guess what, NextDNS is also configured :)

I can use this extension on Brave without any problem, but when it comes to surf on the Internet with Firefox and this VPN add-on I just cannot. No matter the country I select (I've got a free account and it provides a lot of countries and I didn't run out of data, so this isn't the problem) it just keeps giving me the "Unable to find the proxy server" error message.

I used a free VPN (Windscribe) EXTENSION to Firefox which changed my IP address from New Zealand to an IP address in Hong Kong. My Internet speeds slowed down so badly that I disabled and removed the Firefox extension. The problem is that the Hong Kong IP address seems to persist and my internet speeds are so slooow that Firefox bombs out with a timeout issue.

Steps to reproduce:
I installed two extensions (PureVPN and Windscribe) from both, the Firefox and the Chrome extension stores. Windscribe didn't open, but PureVPN worked normally (or so I thought)

Expected behavior:
VPN extensions should change the IP address of the browser. But in this case it did nothing (my IP was the same as when the extension was not activated to another country).

Windscribe has started loading correctly now which is great (icon still doesn't appear on the toolbar) but the actual functionality doesn't work. As in my IP never actually changes. but the FF and Chrome extensions work in those browsers respectively just fine.

using the latest beta (Release 0.99.123-RC - Jan 20, 2023) vpn.ac does not work:
Chrome extension installs but does not even pretend to connect, nothing happens when connecting
Firefox extension installs and says connected, but the IP does not change and blocked sites are still inaccessible

Windscribe's extension installs and authenticates, but it's unable to actually connect. The power button shows it's enabled, but it's unable to see the changed IP address. Checking manually also shows the host IP address.

An array of apps keeps you covered on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Linux. Chrome, Firefox, and Edge extensions give you even more ways to connect, and the website has guides to help you set up the service on routers, Kodi, Amazon Fire TV, Nvidia Shield, and via any OpenVPN-compatible software or device.

The best VPN for Firefox in 2023 is ExpressVPN. Its user-friendly VPN extension encrypts your browser traffic and changes your IP address via 160 global server locations. ExpressVPN is also capable of unblocking dozens of streaming websites.

Currently, the best free Firefox VPN is CyberGhost. While the extension only offers four country locations to connect to, and very limited security settings, it does encrypt your web traffic with 128-bit encryption.

On top of that, we inspect the VPNs privacy policy for any differences between its full app and browser extension. We like to see them as aligned as possible, ideally identical, and for the privacy policy to be as close to zero-logs as possible.

We test each VPN extension on Netflix to see whether it can unblock the many different libraries across the globe. The more it can access, and the speed and ease with which it does it, the higher we rate the VPN extension.

When you visit a website, your web browser reveals a load of information about you and your previous browsing history. This information can be used to profile and target you with marketing ads. There are various programs and extensions that you can use to avoid being tracked online, such as the ad blocker AdBlock Plus, which can also stop social media networks from tracking your online actions.
