Hi,

I'm trying to get Go Button working with Hexler Touch OSC.

I can get it connected in so far as I can see in Go Buttons OSC command area that it flashes yellow when I press the touch osc button put no action is triggered the command it seems to send is /go push1 0

Any thoughts?

What are you trying to trigger? It’s a normal cue, I believe the OSC command to be /go. To launch a specific cue /cue/1/start

It would just be /go then?

Yes thats what I thought. And When I created the button it does just say /go but when used in the Go button connection screen it shows the message being sent and it has the push1 1 and //go/push1 0 after it and doesn't trigger the go

Hi Chris -

I don't have a TouchOSC editor installed right now that I can test these with, but here are two things you might try that I found in the docs:

1. In the OSC Properties for your button, make sure that the "Auto" checkbox is disabled. That is probably what is making TouchOSC add the name of your button to its OSC message.
2. Go Button will ignore the "0" or "1" after your "/go" message. But if you have both the "Send on 'Press'" and "Send on 'Release'" options enabled for your button, that might be why you are seeing Go Button receive two messages for every tap.

Hi! would check the OSC settings in Touchosc: host IP adress and port numbers. Go Buton listens to port 53100. For my experience working with OSC definitly you must asing fixed IP adress to the devices on your network. Think that if you are using a standard router probably it is assigning dinamic IP adresses, so each time you start your network, the IP adresses can change!

Hope it helps
Daniel

Hi,

Sorry for the dely in replying. Thanks for your suggestions.

The auto check box was always disabled and on or off didn't seem to make a difference.
There's definitely a connection as I can see the responses on the go button connection screen. Still no luck but I'll keep plugging away at it.

Hi All,

I'm also trying to trigger GoButton from Touch OSC.
I must say that TouchOSC is not as much customizable as I wish. By example you cannot send a single message without a value.

Brent said that GoButton will ignore these values, well, it's partially true :

What's working :
When I want to send "/go", GoButton receives "/go 1" but the cue is fired ok.
Same for "/panic" : "/panic 1" is received but it works.
Same for "/playhead/next" "/playhead/previous" "/pause" "/resume" "/oops" "/reset" "/panic"

What's NOT working :
Commands like "/cue/1/start", received by GoButton as "/cue/1/start 1"  don't work
Same with "hit/1/start"...

I didn't found a way to avoid TouchOSC sending value at the end of messages.
Is there a fix on your side you could achieve about these commands ?

Using GoButton 3.2.6 under iOS 10.3.3

All the best
Philippe

Hi Philippe --

Thanks for pointing this out about those "cue" OSC methods. Indeed some OSC commands are more strict about the format of the incoming message, and messages that have too many arguments are currently being discarded.

We made a change to relax this in an early version of QLab v4, and I've made a note to make that change as well in the place in Go Button that shares the same code.

Hi Brent,

Good news !
I just can't wait to test next version of GoButton.
I will, at last, be able to trigger totally GoButton from TouchOSC.

Thanks a lot ! Great software !

ps : Is it still on the road map to fully remote a gobutton session from another device running GoButton ? (Like we do with QLab and QLab remote, but simpler.)

Al the Best
Philippe

Yes -- that is still on our (very long) list.  :)

An update that we released Go Button 3.2.7 this morning. This version includes a change that now allows Go Button to ignore extra arguments sent to "cue" and "hit" OSC commands that do no normally expect to receive arguments, e.g "/cue/{number}/start".

This should now make it possible to send those commands from buttons in apps like TouchOSC.

I just tested it, and it works like a charm. At last I have a full spare remote for GoButton.
A thousand thank you !

All the best.
