Hello! I'm having trouble with an action- I want to hit the GO button once, have the playing track fade out completely, and then have the next track play.

This is totally possible to do- the GO cue is set to fade out and then follow next. Then I set the pre-wait time of the next track to wait for the fade out of the first track before playing.

However, when you choose the fade out and follow next option, the fade time is auto-populated to five seconds. I can pre-wait less than five seconds, but I can't get the first track to fade faster than five seconds.

It is possible to edit that auto-populated time to something less than five seconds, and you can save it. But when it plays, it will still take five seconds at the least and when you go back in the edit file you can see the time has been put back to five seconds.

Does anyone know how to make all of this work with a three second fade? I only want to hit the button once. Thank you!

I don't know if this will make sense, if I can explain it but- I had tried to change that setting before which you suggested. But I only checked to see if I could save a new time there and didn't go back and play the show file like how i tested the other settings for fade out- which is, you can edit the time shorter than 5 seconds on the other settings and save them. Except when you go to play the cue, it will still take at least 5 seconds and when you go back to look at the setting, it shows 5 seconds instead of what you saved it at.

So the place where you had me change the fade time now was something I had tried before... though I had only changed the setting, saved it, and then went back into the file to see if the time had remained intact. It actually does not remain edited as 3 seconds how I set it, and instead shows 5 seconds again... BUT if you go back out of editing and play the show cues it does actually fade for 3 seconds instead of the 5 that it shows. Which on one hand is super awesome because, hey, problem solved!! And on the other hand is slightly concerning because the program is behaving in a way that is different to what it shows me on my screen...

In any case, super appreciate your help!

Hopefully to help clarify -- there can in fact be two different "Fade Out" times at work in a cue. One of them is automatic, the other gives you options.

- The "Fade Out Time" field sets the duration of the fade out that always happens at the end of the cue, if the cue runs to completion. You can edit the fade out numerically in that field or by dragging the fade handle in the waveform at the top of the edit screen.
- Go Actions also let you optionally manually trigger a fade at an arbitrary time by tapping GO. You can have one or more Go Actions in a cue. If you do not trigger a Go Action while the cue is playing, the playhead will just move on to the next cue.

The row of buttons under "After This Cue Starts" are presets that set up cues with several common configurations. Specifically, the "Fade Out + Follow Next" button sets the Fade Out Time _and_ adds a "Fade Out + Go Next" Go Action to your cue. Each of these fades default to 5 seconds, but you can customize each duration, or remove one or the other settings.

You might want a gradual fade out at the end of your cue (which the Fade Out Time provides), but also have the option to jump quickly to the next cue at any time (which the Go Action provides).
