The 2013 Stateline Goat Association symposium will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013. It will be at the Waterford Public Library which is the same place as the past two years. We are still finalizing the speakers and topics but I just wanted to let everyone know the date so you can put it on your calendar early. Please forward this to other goat enthusiasts who aren't on the mailing list.
We have had a request to have one of our group members present a talk on home made feeders, waterers, and other equipment that you can make along with information on fencing. I am asking for input from all of you ingenious goat people!! With regard to fencing, what works for you, what hasn't worked. Do you have recommendations on electric fence components (which chargers work best, rope vs. tape)? Comments on welded wire vs. woven vs. cattle panels? Email me your comments, suggestions, and anything else on fencing.
For homemade equipment, people looked on the internet and didn't find much for goats. I am looking for plans, pictures, drawings or ideas you have on hay feeders, grain feeders, automatic waterers, heated waterers, milk benches, etc. Any equipment that can be used for goats and you can make yourself. If you know of internet sites that do have good plans or pictures send them to me. If we get enough plans and ideas this could be put into a form (CD or large PDF file) that would be great to give to new goat owners or people thinking of getting into goats. So please email me your plans and ideas.
Looking forward to your replies and hope to see you at the symposium. I will send more details probably around mid December.
