WRITE UP:
‘SHANTINIKETAN’ is the ancestral house of Bakibab Borkar. This was the name in which the great Poet B. B. Borkar is even today fondly known all over Goa. Preserving the ancestral house for posterity in the memory of the renowned poet would be a befitting tribute to his creativity for generations to come.
I request our Honourable Chief Minister Shri Digambar V Kamat who also happens to hold the Art & Culture portfolio to take initiative and do justice to our beloved Bakibab on behalf of the state of Goa and other members of the literature fraternity by converting his ancestral house into a community learning centre cum museum. I am sure at the CM’s request the poet’s family members and the literature fraternity would donate all his articrafts, photographs and handwritten manuscripts for preservation.
Famous Padmashree awardee goan poet late Shri B. B. Borkar’s birth centenary is on 30th November 2010. This proud son of the soil brought glory to the land of Goa with his poetry in Marathi and Konkani languages by describing the beauty of this land in his poems.
