GUJ declares Journalism Awards for 2021 and
2022
The Goa Union of Journalists declared the GUJ
Journalism Awards for 2021 and 2022 at its headquarters in Panaji on Saturday.
All three judges -- veteran journalist Sandesh
Prabhudesai, veteran photojournalist Sandeep Naik and veteran journalist
Rajendra Dessai – attended the programme and announced the winners.
The judges explained in detail why each
award-winning entry was selected. Participants also described the story behind
their winning and non-winning entries, paving for a healthy interactive session
between the judges and participants.
The judges did not name any winners in
categories that did not receive worthy-enough entries.

Excellence in environmental journalism (In

Excellence in art and culture journalism: Ramnath Pai Raikar (The Navhind
Times) for his report ‘A performer for all seasons’.
Excellence in cartooning: None
Excellence in crime journalism (In honour of Audumber Shinde): Gauree
Malkarnekar (The Times of India) for her report ‘Highly unusual to see a body
washed up ashore at Calangute’.
Excellence in layout and page design: Manoj Shirodkar (Herald) for his page
design ‘Euro 2020’.
Excellence in sports journalism: Marcus Mergulhao (The Times of India) for his
report ‘Goan With The Wind’.
Excellence in TV/ digital journalism: Loukik Shilkar (Prudent) for his report

Excellence in TV/ digital journalism: Upendra Naik (Gomantak TV) for his report

Excellence in video journalism: Upendra Naik (Gomantak TV) for his report ‘मिरामार | एका कावळ्यासाठी यंत्रणेची धावपळ | All
lives matters’.
The Awards will be presented during the 46th GUJ Foundation Day celebrations on July 26, 2023 at 3.30 pm at the Institute Menezes Braganza in Panaji.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and Dipak
Bandekar, Director of Information and Publicity will attend the event.
GUJ president Rajtilak Naik welcomed the gathering, while GUJ secretary Vasudev
Pagi proposed the vote of thanks.
