Two immediate uses: rafters for tiled roofs and main beam of the plough. Second only in interior areas of Goa. First still in use.

Which village are you in? Most villages have coconut rafter makers. They simply chisel the trunk to make long members for wooden roofs. you can also make garden furniture with it.

I know that there are people who process the Coconut tree trunks into roof timbers, if they are of sufficient length.  They are valued for their termite resistant properties.
I have seen walking sticks made from coconut tree trunks.  The trunk is probably put through a lathe to get the right size.
It would be nice to know if there are people who specialize in using coconut tree trunks.  I expect a couple of my over 100 year old coconut trees to come down soon.

I've seen a house along the Saligao-Nagoa road (leading to the Holy Trinity Church) that is always busy making rafters of coconut tree trunks. If you pass by, you might see the trees neatly cut up there. FN

In my travels I have seen a log cabin house, built entirely of coconut tree segments. The roof beam and rafters were also crafted from coconut tree segments, and the roofing was of coconut leaf thatch.  It was cool !

I have a few standing dead trees that I need to get rid of.
If anyone wants them, they can take them away for free if they have use for them.

FYI  Please note:
Those of you who are thinking of cutting of coconut trees, you need to take permission from the Agriculture Dept.
Please make an application to the Director, Dept. of Agriculture, Tonca, Caranzalem, Panaji. Give a reason as to why to need to cut the trees.
They will send inspectors to check out the trees and then give your permission.

H-m-m-mm............is it a tree or just a plant ?  How much do we need to pay to get permission to cut a coconut plant ?
I will just wait  for my coconut PLANTS  to die and fall as a result of old age.
