Dear all,
Please note that my recently published book titled 'Saint Francis Xavier
- his life journey through stamps, prayer cards and lithographs' was
launched recently on the 4th January 2025 at Museum of Christian Art (MoCA), Old Goa at the hands of His Eminence Cardinal Filipe Neri Archbishop Ferrao.
This is a very unusual book format and aimed at those interested in
collectables, life of St Francis Xavier, history of the 1500's and
Jesuits too - it is a perfect blend of all of these. Besides highly
historical, accurate facts, it also contains a lot of
personal information related to the Saint that many people are not
aware off - including both the cardinal and secretary, who had graced
the occasion at the book launch recently.
It took a lot of research to condense so much information into 100 pages, that are fully illustrated that too.
The aim of the book was to teleport the reader into the 1500's Goa so
that they can immerse themselves into history at the time Francis Xavier
walked upon this earth.
The A4 book format ensures there is a carefully chosen image on every
single page that matches the narrative - geographically, historically
and politically..
The book also contains a section of full colour plates with Portuguese
India philatelic items scanned at 600dpi for optimum resolution, as well
pages containing some first class reliquaries found worldwide.
It is priced at just Rs1,750 in India and £20 in the UK for direct
pickup/meetup. The books can also be posted anywhere with extra shipping
added.
The first 100 copies contain specialized philatelic souvenirs and are
priced differently (please see attached scans for examples).
The book is hand numbered and it is currently available from Goa
Collector's Corner at Margao and from London. It will soon be available
at other places in Goa, when new stocks arrive soon. These can be
shipped to anywhere in the world from either Goa or UK.
The first 100 copies contain special philatelic items, where one can
browse through a pdf file and choose the item/book number they want.
Original Portuguese India Stamps, First Day Covers and world stamps are
available for selection. This represents the countries
where Saint Francis Xavier had travelled and had issued stamps on his
honour.
If anybody is interested in more information or if they want to book a copy, please do message me privately. (

NB: I have attached some scans containing information about the book,
including examples of the special pages that contain real philatelic
items from Portuguese India (one is the 1952 FDC souvenir by LuMeNo and
the other one is the 1931 stamp set printed at
Nasik, both specially issued for the expositions on these years).
