Dr. Kanekar’s current research interests include:

1.Sex-based Animal Model for Altitude-related Depression and Anxiety.
2.Brain Bioenergetics as a Novel Target for Treatment-resistant Depression and Anxiety at Altitude.
3.Mental Health in Women: Sex differences in Vulnerability to Mood Disorders and Substance Abuse.
4.Altitude-related Impact on Substance Abuse and Suicide.

Her contributions to science have been groundbreaking.
