Madhav Gadgil with Ramchandra Guha has done great work on Table land
of Karnataka and it would go with the work of Vandana Shiva and others
in the Himalayas for regeneration of Nature - plant, animal and human
life - in the era of anthropocene and within the framework of Capra's
and Luisi's A systemic View of Life and Ecoliteracy. It will lead to
Planetary Ecogenesis in our own times, if we care.

Would someone clarify this for me:
“The Portuguese also attempted to dissolve the village community governance but gave up the attempt…”
Is there any documentation supporting this statement?
My understanding is that there was a debate among Goans about this issue, with some Goans (e.g.  Francisco Luiz Gomes) proposing dissolving it, while other Goans (e.g., Filipe Nery Xavier) favoring maintaining it, but the Portuguese government never attempted to abolish that system.
