Pope Francis died. He looked sick and frail on TV. On Thursday, the day Catholics remember how Jesus of Nazareth was arrested, he visited a prison to comfort the prisoners. He always stood up for compassion, mercy, social justice, and the universality of the Church. Goan Catholics should for ever be grateful to him for the canonization of the first Goan Catholic saint, Jose’ Vaz, and for elevating the Archbishop of Goa to Cardinal. He was a true “companion of Christ.” Peace to him.
