Dr Irene Silveira has been conferred the Chevalier des Palmes Académiques by Mr. Patrick Leverino Consul General of France in Mumbai.
This award recognises her exceptional scholarship and outstanding contribution to French language education and culture.
The French National Order of Academic Palms, created by Napoleon I in 1808, is awarded to academics in France and overseas who have significantly advanced education and intellectual culture.
NOTE: BELC India 2026 is currently taking place from May 25 to 29, 2026, at Goa University. This third edition of the regional BELC program in India is aimed at professionals across the Asian region (Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam) who are engaged in the teaching, training, and promotion of the French language.
Event Overview
BELC India 2026 is part of a broader initiative focused on training and reflection regarding current and emerging pedagogical practices. It offers professionals working in and through the medium of French a unique setting in which to refresh their approaches and enhance their skill sets.
Designed as a space for experimentation and exchange, BELC India 2026 will place a strong emphasis on active learning methodologies and innovative tools. Participants will be invited to explore a diverse range of themes, including gamification and playful learning, the integration of media into French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classrooms, strategies for developing memory, oral proficiency, and motivation, as well as university-level instruction and literature.
