Distant Manipur's links with Goa

With Manipur in the news (in such a bad way), here are two Goa-related links to that distant part of India: 
Desmond Anthony Bellarnine Coutinho, a Goan expat in the UK, got into the news due to his connections with Irom Chanu Sharmila, the "Iron Lady of Manipur", who became the world's longest hunger striker (16 years) for the lifting of the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act in that region.

Some on this group might also know the late Prof KJ Mahale, the former Vice-Chancellor (founding, I think) of the Manipur University. Amazing things are indeed happening there, including de facto Partition, and full-scale preparation for civil war. 

But it's not true that either Delhi or Imphal are looking away. In fact both state and national apparatus has picked one side (the same one) in the building conflagration, while labelling the other as criminal. We are at a very dangerous juncture indeed, facing catastrophe that could easily spill far beyond Manipur.
