Eusebio L. Rodrigues, 87, an English professor at
Georgetown University from 1970 to 1996, died Nov. 13 at a
hospital in Bethesda, Md. He had cardiac ailments and
pneumonia, his daughter Usha Rodrigues said.
Dr. Rodrigues was born in Aden, Yemen, and grew up in Goa,
India. He settled in the United States in 1965, living for
many years in Potomac, Md., and became a U.S. citizen in
1990. At Georgetown, Dr. Rodrigues taught modern American
fiction and Indian culture and literature, among other
subjects. His publications included the book "Quest for the
Human: An Exploration of Saul Bellow's Fiction" and articles
on authors including Toni Morrison. After his retirement, he
focused on fictional writing, publishing the novel "Love and
Samsara," set in 16th-century India, in 2007.
