CARAMBOLIM PLAGUE

Hi everyone,

Do any of you know of any books ,that highlight the Carambolim plague of the 17th and 18th centuries, if I recall correctly? Also, do any of you have ancestors that were forced to flee this place and move into the hinterlands of Goa? I'd love to know. My great-great-grandfather was one of many who moved after this devastating plague.

It is believed that many gauncars of Carambolim went to places like Velim and Parra, maybe after the plague. Some got rights in comunidades both places, it is said. The Colacos of Velim might be from this area, as I recall this being said online earlier. This info would need cross-checking, as I'm writing from memory.

A PhD scholar is working on research on Carambolim currently  Hope this offers some pointers.Regards, FN

They call them Zonnkar. Savia Viegas & MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas from Carmona are from Zonnkar families as also is  Chancellor Fr. Nelson Sequeira from Carmona & the Barros & Colaço families from Velim & several more. I'm sure Cait. Venzy could provide a lot of info.

i'm working on it....Incidentally my Father is a zonkar from Carambolim too..... should be submitting my thesis at the end of Jan...Would love to connect
