Paul Melo e Castro on Goan Books / Evagrio Jorge

Paul Melo e Castro wrote to me privately about books with a Goan setting but forgot to send a copy to GBC. Given below is what he wrote:

"Franck Pavlov - Pondichéry-Goa (this one's French, but quite an interesting comparison of the author's travels to and between the two territories)

A while back you asked people for books with Goa settings. I had thought of a few recent Portuguese books for your list but I didn't get round to sending it to you:

Raquel Ochoa - A Casa-Comboio (won a fairly prestigious literary prize in Portugal, I managed to lose my copy the last time I was in Goa)

Miguel Real - O Feitiço da Índia (haven't read it yet, part of it is about a Portuguese man who stays on in Goa after 1961)

Almeida Faria - O Murmúrio do Mundo (a travellogue, by one of Portuguese best writers in my opinion)

Leopoldo da Rocha - Casa Grande (semi-autobiographical novel, caused a great deal of eye-brow arching amongst Portuguese-speaking Goans, I believe, due to the priest protagonists, ahum, 'naughtiness')

Franck Pavlov - Pondichéry-Goa (this one's French, but quite an interesting comparison of the author's travels to and between the two territories)"

Paul also wrote about Evagrio Jorge:

"On the subject of Evagrio Jorge: in the 1960s he published a series of translations into Portuguese of stories by Premchand. Perhaps that helps you locate Jorge as short story writer. I think he lived in New Delhi for a while, so I don't know if the translations are directly from the Hindi or bridged through English. Another of my half-finished projects is to collect the translations together and turn them into a sort of e-book. I've edited and collated the stories and written an intro. I'm just waiting for a period of time to elapse before I bother a designer friend of mine for another favour... Jorge also had a column in O Heraldo in the 1960s entitled Darshan Bharat, which I didn't have time to collect properly when I was in Goa. It's a sort of ongoing travel narrative and very interesting.  

I think that Jorge also translated Vimala Devi's Monção into Konkani and serialised the stories in Uzvadd. Monção is probably the best collection of Portuguese-language Goan short stories, so that might be something for a Konkani-publisher to recover."

Any idea where can I get acopy of  Jorge's translated Vimala Devi's Monção into Konkani ? Or for that matter issues of 'Uzvadd'?
