Hi Rico,  I don't know which of these you created on Wiki, but if at all possible, wouldn't it make sense to integrate these so there is only one entry for each genre (fiction, poetry, non-f etc.) whether or not these are multiple wiki entries that's fine...but one wiki entry on 'Goan Literature' then another list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goan_literature AND https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fiction_writers_from_Goa,_India .  I also came across this one here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poets_in_(and_from)_Goa AND this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Women_writers_from_Goa

Do you know who created these multiple lists and if you do, could you work with them to just have one per genre of Goan writers?  Just a suggestion, thanks!

Hi Jessica,

The history of each page is attached to it. But once anyone puts it out there, it kind of gets 'owned' by the public domain.

Changing a page can be messy, specially on the English Wikipedia, where someone could take objections to the changes, etc.

But anyone feeling strongly enough about it is free to work to edit it.

Guys, I just want to clarify that this list (because of it sought in that format) is about Goa-based authors writing in English.

You are free to start similar lists of outside-Goa authors, or authors writing in Konkani, etc.

If I had the time, I would have certainly helped.

I would also think likewise....

Question: now who (if anyone) is going to volunteer to maintain this list?

Have already down some ground work (but not all).

PS: There are names from some categories left out still. Translators. Those writing for children. Editors of volumes putting together the writings of others (e.g. Inside/Out edited by Helene Menezes with Jose Lourenco). There could be some who may have written while they were outside Goa, but are now based here. For instance, I was just reminded of this when I came across Melanie Ruth Sequeira's The Case of the Red-Headed Shrew. Melanie has written a few books before she was based in Goa (I think). Rajashree Bandodkar-Karpurkar, our batchmate and friend at the publishing course, has done quite a few books about science for children; are some of those in English too, Rajashree-bai? There's also the case of Luis Santa Rita Vas, who has authored as many as 28 books (if I recall right), but might have done most or all of those while based outside Goa, in Bombay/Mumbai. I would agree that the in Goa/out of Goa line here might seem a bit arbitrary, which it is. The only reason I'm doing it is because the question was asked in that manner.

Dr Celsa, You're right. I made the mistake of picking up books from my 'English/Literature' section. This inadvertently excludes those who have worked in fields like history, sociology, religion, law and other fields.

The list is just a starter, and need a lot more additions.

Not sure how we can strive to being more complete....
