Hi FN & all,

Mere lists of libraries in Goa does not tell us much about a particular library: the way it is structured, the materials held and facilities provided. Does it also cater to children and the elderly? How computerised is it in terms of memberships cards, automated borrowing & return, computer services?
 The Goa Central Library website is disappointlngly sparse in content.

[An Indian working in a UK library said India is quite primitve in terms of library facilities. She candidly felt the reason is the usual dearth of both financial and intellectual resources. Goa is perhaps a bit superior in this respect.] 

 

For a comparison, consider the UK situation, here is what's on offer at the local public library in South London where I live.

Further to my conversation to Frederick, Goa Book Club and the mailing group was started by Fred and me to discuss Goa books by meeting , n online i.e to promote reading Goa books and related activities like xchanging books , etc. I find the list is becoming a" research and debate oriented"! , with discussions not all related to individual books and or authors. And private responses should be preferably to personal email Ids. If the " undesirable" trend continues pls remove my name from the mailing group, Fred.
