Greetings from Carpe Diem!

We’re now into our third week of Women as Storytellers, Makers and Leaders, and we’re truly grateful to everyone who has been joining us along the way. Your presence and support have meant so much to us.

Here’s what we have lined up for the coming week — we’d love to have you with us!

A wickedly funny look at love, land, and everything we inherit — whether wanted or not.

From the early 20th century to today, the cantaram—once seen as a side-show in tiatr—has captured the essence of Goa. This film argues it is, in fact, the main attraction, tracing its journey from stage performances to records, radio, and now social media. Focusing on the works of C. Alvares, Remmie Colaso, and Jacinto Vaz, the documentary explores the evolution and enduring relevance of these Konkani songs.

Duration: 55 min
Language: Konkani & English

No entry fee. A Q&A session with the director will follow post screening.

Sometimes, the smallest acts—like play—become the most powerful ways of being seen.
Pakdam Pakdai
A film by Swapnil A. with Ayera, Anish, Hina, Om and friends

In the bustling Sadar Market of Agra, a group of children who sell balloons in the market take us along as they navigate between work and play, hostility and joy, commerce and friendship in the urban space that is designed to exclude them. In this vehicle-choked public realm, we observe their routine of overcoming various barriers and intuitively carve spaces for themselves.
With their games and tender resilience, Pakdam Pakdai celebrates children’s agency in employing the act of play to claim space amid the relentlessness of the city.

Duration: 8 min
Language: Hindi & English subtitles

A Q&A session with the director will follow post screening.
