AT LITERATI, CALANGUTE: Join the Book Club meet at Literati Bookshop & Café on 28 April at 7:30 pm to discuss the book The Education of Yuri by Jerry Pinto. The discussion will be followed by a potluck.

The Education of Yuri is a coming-of-age novel set in urban India that follows Yuri, a perceptive and emotionally sensitive boy, as he grows up navigating family tensions, friendship, sexuality, and the quiet confusions of adolescence. Rather than a conventional plot-driven story, it unfolds through fragments—memories, observations, and inner reflections—capturing how a young person “learns” about the world not through formal schooling but through lived experience: desire, loss, shame, tenderness, and the search for identity. Jerry Pinto’s tone is intimate and understated, making the novel less about events and more about the slow, often awkward formation of selfhood.
