DKA invite applications for Annual Dalgado and other Awards

The prestigious yearly Awards – Dalgado Puroskar 2022 will be conferred at a ceremonial function on 8 individuals who have excelled in Literary and Cultural fields, and who have helped in preserving and promoting Konkani literature in Roman Script and preservation of Culture and heritage of Goa. 

The awards are in the following categories: 1) Dalgado Sahityik Puroskar, 2) Dalgado Sonskrutik Puroskar and 3) Dalgado Romi Konknni Seva Puroskar.  These awards consists of Rs. 35,000/- each and nominees for these three categories should be sixty years and above. 4) Fr. Freddy J.Da Costa Borovpi Puroskar. This award consists of Rs. 25,000/- and the nominee should be between the age of 35 to 50 years and should have worked for Romi Konkani at least for 10 years. 5) Prabhakar Tendulkar Konknni Sonstha Puroskar. The award consists of Rs. 25,000/- and the nominee institution should have worked for Romi Konkani at least for 10 years. 6) Joel D’Souza Daiz Puroskar. The award consists of Rs. 25,000/- and the nominee should be sixty years and above and have worked for the preservation of Goan heritage. 7) Dalgado Tornatto Puroskar.  The awards consists of Rs. 15,000/-The nominee should be between the age of 25 and 35 years and have published at least one book. 8) Berta Menezes Ostori Puroskar (Exclusively for women). The award consists of Rs. 10,000/- and the nominee should have worked in different fields of Romi Konkani. 

All the awards carry a shawl, buquet of flowers,memento and citation besides the cash award.

Dalgado Konknni Akademi invite applications from the contenders with their bio-data to be submitted at the Dalgado Akademi office, Old Education Dept. Bldg., 2^nd Floor, Near Pharmacy College, 18 June Road, Panaji, Goa by 14^th of November, 2022 during office hours.

Love one another and be happy : Vincy Quadros

DKA celebrated Children’s Day

Benaulim : ‘Love one another and always be happy without hatred and anger,’ said Vincy Quadros, President of Dalgado Konknni Akademi at the function organized at Auxilium High School, Benaulim on 14^th November, 2022 to celebrate Children’s Day.  Sr. Elizabeth Coelho,  Headmistress of the school and Celso Fernandes, Treasurer of DKA were also present on the dais.

 

While greeting the children, Vincy Quadros said, make as many friends as possible and accept them as they are.  Always keep smiling.  God has given us the life, enjoy it to the fullest. Always live like little children who act naturally without any fear and pressure.’ Sr. Elizabeth also greeted the children on the occassion.

 

On this occasion various competitions were held and the following were declared winners :

*Singing Juniors Category*
1st place :Edeva Fernandes, 2nd place : Jaden Fernandes, 3rd place : Cadencia Baptista
Consolation prize : Athan D'Costa

*Singing Senior Category*
1st place : Rochelle Ganjigatti, 2nd place : Stella Da Costa, 3rd place: Bethany Fernandes
Consolation prize : Jannessa Furtado

*Poem Reciting*
1st place : Saideep Naik, 2nd place : Soham Ekawade, 3rd place : Chrysler Monteiro
Consolation prize : Linson Fernandes

*Picture Narrative*
1st place : Imaclin Dias, 2nd place : Lizane Fernandes, 3rd place : Mesba Banu Alam

 

Besides the prizes, all the participants were presented with the certificates.  Venita D’ Costa compered the function.  Vincy Quadros, Celso Fernandes, Kimberly Gresha Fernandes and Rosy Pereira were the judges for the competitions.

DKA felicitates two Konkani Writers Fr. Myron Barreto and Ives Tavares

 

Panaji : Dalgado Konknni Akademi felicitates two dynamic Konkani writers who have raised the banner of Konkani to a greater heights. Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto has recently won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar besides other awards in the recent times and Ives Tavares created world record for his ‘Biblical Concordance’.

 

The felicitation function will be held on 25^th November at 4.30 p.m. at the Conference Hall of Mae Dos Pobres, Nuvem, Salcete, Goa. Mr. Agnelo Fernandes, The Commissioner of Corporation of the City of Panaji has consented to be the Chief Guest. Vincy Quadros, President of Dalgado Konknni Akademi will preside over the function.

 

Brief introduction of the two writers is given below:

 

Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto

 

Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto, hailing from Sadolxem, Canacona is a Konkani writer. Besides serving in the church of Nuvem, he is the Manager of the ‘New Age Printers’ Verna. Fr. Barreto is a regular contributor to bulletins, periodicals, magazines and has published seven secular and nine religious books in Konkani. 

He is the Co-Editor of Goa Diocesan trimonthly magazine, “VOMP’PI” and is a member of the editorial team of “Gõycho Pormoll” magazine.

He also presents articles and poems at Mhadei Channel Goa MW 1287 khz (newsonair).

He has received Dalgado Youth Award (2018), Konkani Bhasha Mandal’s Late Narsinha Damodar Naik award for Literature (2021), Goa State Yuva Srujan Puraskar (2021) for literature and Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2022.

Ives Tavares

Ives Joaquim Fabiano Tavares lives in Ilha de Rachol in Salcete. He has written 12 tiatr till date and three novels. His tiatr and films are well acknowledged and bestowed with awards.

He holds the following records :
India's World Record ( Longest Book), World's Records India- (World's Biggest Roman Konkani Biblical Concordance), India's Book of Records (Thickest Book), Asia Book of Records (Thickest Book), Champions Book of Records (Longest Book), Universal Book Forum Records

Ives has been felicitated by Universal Konkani Legend Award, Dalgado Konknni Akademi, Tiatr Academy Goa, Siolim Boats Festivals and Cultural Organization, Salcete Tribul Forum, India's Book of Records and other institutions.
