Hello Iris,

For the GUI you need to have the Python TkInter installed (python-tk, python-tk-dev). Make sure these packages are present on your bio-linux machine (by default they are not installed in an Ubuntu environment).

Also ensure that you have the latest version of GO-Elite installed.

I think once you have the GUI running, everything else should work out fine. If not, please report all bugs/inconsistensies on the google-group (go-e...@googlegroups.com) so we can all help you further. I've forwarded this mail to the group as well.

Best,

-- Stan

Subject: Go elite

hey

I am currently doing my Bachelor Thesis with the Bio-informatics group here in Maastricht. I have to get the know the GO Elite program, and am currently working on a Bio Linux, however, I do experience certain problems. Such as: I have the suspicion that the graphical user interface for linux is not correctly installed. I have a folder with all the data in, but I don't know how to start up the program without the commander. There is no documentation on this case...
If i do use GO and test the tutorial files it runs quite well, but then I end up getting the following:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "GO_Elite.py", line 1733, in <module>
if use_Tkinter == 'yes': importGOEliteParameters(run_parameter)
File "GO_Elite.py", line 1335, in importGOEliteParameters

sys.stdout = status; root.after(100, runGOElite(mod))

dir_list = read_directory(import_dir) #send a sub_directory to a function to identify all files in a directory

dir_list = unique.read_directory(sub_dir); dir_list2 = []

if (':' in sub_dir) or ('/Users/' == sub_dir[:7]) or ('/Volumes/' in sub_dir) or ('Linux' in platform.system()): dir_list = os.listdir(sub_dir) ### Thus, the whole path is provided already
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/iris/testdata/Mm_sample/GO-Elite_results/CompleteResults/ORA'

Hope you can help me out with this...

Iris
