17.4 OSX Agent is not working.

Hi, All,

I have isatlled and run the server and agent on a EC2 instance, all is showing up fine. I want to install the agent on a MAC OS X machine as well, but I have no success so far. My largest problem is that the downloadable "file" in the download section is not a zip file as stated, it is only a binary file and there is no installation pkg. The Docs state that there should be created a number of properties files and folders, none of these are created. It means that when I run the go-agent (runs on my newer MAC 10.10.5, and I also tend on my older 10.9.2) it only tries the 127.0.0.1 and not the IP to my server because I simply cannot set it to the file that do not exist.

Did anyone else install the newest 17.4 release on a OS X as an agent?

Hi,

Just tried the installation of go agent on mac. Seems fine. As the docs state, unzipping the downloaded file will provide you the application to run. You might want to checkout ~/Library/Preferences/com.thoughtworks.go.agent.properties file to change the go server url. And check the logs at ~/Library/Application Support/Go Agent.

The download file only contains One file. Go-agent. it does not install or setup any properties files or anything. How did you do that?

Hi,

I have tried several times, I am.not getting a zip, only a file. binary. only.the agent. I click the button under Mac downloads named "agent" and get only that.file. Can you possibly supply your zip file since I am not able to get it?

Also in the zip below, there is no install pkg. Where and how is the thought works properties file created? and the library app logs? I do not even see.the folder.

This is strange as I used Mac for 10 years installing many things like.this.

How do you install your zip file?

So I tried to click your link here in the email, I am getting a 5.8 Mb file which is not a zip file I cannot unpack it, but I can run it, as it seems to be the agent. However since things are missing , I cannot find props files to set or anything..

I am trying to work this problem now but any help appreciated...

The ~/Library/Preferences/com.thoughtworks.go.agent.properties file will be created the first time the Go Agent.app is clicked on. 

Can you provide the url from which you downloaded the non working agent?

Hi again

So I think I located the app/content and moved it to Applications, I klick it and it starts (icon on the bar only) no GUI but I did det this before to the correct IP. 

I found out the props files where in the /user/Library and not in the outer context.

I also found the log file, and it says in the end the following: 

Could not find file `config/agent-bootstrapper-log4j.properties'. Attempting to load from classpath.

Using classpath resource `config/agent-bootstrapper-log4j.properties'.

Could not find file `config/agent-launcher-log4j.properties'. Attempting to load from classpath.

Using classpath resource `config/agent-launcher-log4j.properties'.

Do you know why? 

The problem is that even if the Go agent app is "running" in the background, apparently with the correct IP and port for my server, my agent is not showing up in the agent list.

Please see other answer, I think I was able to download and move the agent files to the correct location, but even if I have the correct IP in the properties file I do not see the agent in my server, I will take a second look

At the moment I cannot verify the server I have to move from this network. Sorry, I will get back when I look at the server to see if the agent is in fact in the agent list or not..
