Hi Kritika,

Thanks for your response but i feel above setting is generic for all the pipelines but i want to enable email notification for few of my pipeline which i am owning, Not sure if above will help. Could you please confirm.

Basically we have more than 10 pipelines and 2 of them is owned by me.I need email notification for those two with no impact on other notifications.

Hi Sunaina,

I assume you are able to login to GoCD with your credentials and email server settings are configured.

If 2 out of pipelines are owned by you, then first:

1. Login onto GoCD Dashboard
2. Go to your Profile(Clicking on your name in top-right corner) >> Preferences.
3. Under "CREATE NOTIFICATION FILTER", in "Pipeline" dropdown, you will see your pipeline name for which you want to receive email notification.
4. Select the pipeline, stage and event you want to receive notification for.
5. Click on Add.

On left side of the page, under Email Settings:

1. Click on Edit button below first.
2. Enter your email id and alias as "User, username" (As mentioned in the link Kritika shared)
3. Click on save.

Run the pipeline and check your inbox.

Now you will get email notification for those pipelines which you have selected.

I have attached a screenshot of my configuration for a pipeline I own for your reference.

Hi Sunaina,

I tried this too, but GoCD's Email functionality id limited to default content only. Moreover, the email contains URL to stage level execution summary.

Also, I have observed one thing that is each stage execution log is stored in a log file on your go server machine in directory:-  go-server/data/console/<some-name>.log .

The log file vanishes (stored somewhere, but I haven't found out where) after each stage. You could check this file and see if you could attach it to the mail.

Hello Sunaina,

If you want more control on the notifications, consider adding a task (preferably) as the last stage in the pipeline that can send you an email with whatever template / attachments that's needed. This could be achieved using a custom program / script or if you're using a Linux based machine, you can also configure postfix on the agent(s) and use mail / mailx commands.
