My company is doing an evaluation of go.  I've had it installed on a RHEL box via an RPM.  I see that the installation created a go user and that you need to start the server with that user or root.  I currently don't have root access to the box (yes we currently work in silos...).  Does the go user have a default password?  Any other suggestions?

Hey Aaron,

There are zip packages available as well for server/agent. You could just extract them in your HOME and carry on.

Hey Aaron,

The server should have started during the installation. The go user does not have a password, by default. For instance on Debian, go user is created using this.

You can try what Tushar said, as well.

Hi Aaron.

FTR, it appears that the Go installation rpm creates the go user with a locked password even though the password is empty. You could see this (if you were root) by running 'passwd -S go'
The password can be unlocked with 'passwd -uf go', but again you would need to be root to do this. It probably doesn't help you much but at least now you know.

Mark.
