Error in VSM: Value Stream Map of pipeline 'PipelineName' with counter '1' can not be rendered

Hello!

We have been getting the below error for a lot of our pipelines:

Value Stream Map of pipeline 'PipelineName' with counter '1' can not be rendered. Please check the server log for details.

Can you please suggest how to fix this?

Nothing much there, all it prints is the same error message with just NullPointerException and no stack trace.

That information is required to debug any problem. That's why it suggests to look there - there will be a stack trace somewhere. This line logs the stack trace: https://github.com/gocd/gocd/blob/0f58107c851cf2df6ce7c6902eebde796dc1f742/server/src/main/java/com/thoughtworks/go/server/service/ValueStreamMapService.java#L87 - if the server has been running for a long time with many errors, look further back into the log history for one with a stack trace.

There's no way for anyone to help you with such a generic description of a technical problem and no details shared of your version, environment etc, the pipeline structure or VSM in question, any investigation you have done so far. If you'd like help, it'd make it a lot easier if you put some effort into sharing details upfront.
