Migrating and Upgrade GoCD Version

Hi, Anyone that has experience upgrading GoCD from 18.2.0 to 20.7.0 while the upgrade is a migration too to a new server?

Basic tasks:

1. - setup new server
2. - setup GoCD 20.7.0 with docker
3. - Export DB and Config from 18.2.0 server
4. - Import to new Server

Anyone that met issues, warning, special prerequisites etc etc?

Hello Carlos,

This questions keeps getting asked in the mailing list. Searching the archives might give you more ideas. Generally, as long as you have a backup and try it in a test setup, it should be fine.

Things I’d watch out for:

1. Java versions supported by newer versions will have changed from 18.x. If using Docker, maybe it’s not much of a problem.
   
2. A couple of releases such as 20.2.0 (for its TLS changes) and 20.5.0 (for its database changes) come to mind. As Ketan recommended in an old topic, you should read all the release notes for breaking changes.

yes I Saw the topic about the upgrade from 17 to 19, and I read all changelog from my  version to latest. Just to know if someone tried from 18 (or  newest) to 20.4. or 5
