I deplore espn's coverage.

Emily Kaplan has said 2x or 3x more words than Buccigross and Weekes.

Worst draft event/coverage I’ve ever seen.  I had to mute it after a while and then turned it off after Bruins pick.  Based on tonight, they should go back to doing a conference call, publish the results the next day.  Truly an embarrassment for the league.

The decentralized format was only a test. Looks like they will be returning to the old format next year.

The decentralized format did not turn me off as much as numerous other aspects of their Draft coverage last night.

 But, I'll just focus on being happy that Hagens fell into our lap. Whether DS can develop him is a topic for a different email.

Everything about last night's broadcast was awful—the format, ESPN's coverage, the analysis/interviews, just bad.  Then I turned on today's ESPN+ coverage of rounds 2-7, and it was...well, perfectly fine.  I mean, I'd rather that the TEAMS were actually present, but for the most part, it's been as a draft broadcast should be.  Actually, it makes me wonder—might this team have been available on ESPN+ last night???  I just put on ESPN last night and never gave a thought to the possibility of a different feed elsewhere.

Glad to hear the pundits rave about Hagens a little earlier, found that comforting.  They seemed to really like our second pick too, William Moore.  I've seen conflicting reports about whether he's headed to BC THIS fall or NEXT ('26) fall.  I hope it's this fall.  They didn't seem as high on our third pick, Liam Pettersson, highly offensive-minded/defensively-challenged D-man from Växjö in Sweden, but they had him rated just a wee bit lower than 61 where we picked him.  And then we did the unthinkable, making a deal with les scabs, and dropped from 69 to 79 to take a big-time Minnesota high school scorer (49-34-83 in 31 games), Cooper Simpson, who is apparently headed to UND, where he'll play with fellow prospect Will Zellers.

And we're back on the clock momentarily at #100!

One other thing.  I can't wrap my head around why we would trade pick #108 to Tampa Bay straight up for their fourth round pick NEXT year.  In other words, if Tampa makes the playoffs next season, we'll wind up having traded this year's pick #108 for a future pick that falls somewhere between #113 and #128.  I suppose there's always a chance that TB falls apart next year and we wind up having swapped #108 for, I don't know, next year's #106 or thereabouts, but the likelihood of getting a WORSE pick is greater than the likelihood of getting an equal or better pick, and that adds up to a BAD trade.  Shouldn't we have gotten a 6th thrown in?  Or at least a 7th?  Or a condition that if their 4th next year is later than 108, we get their third instead?  SOMETHING???  The team seeking to move up shouldn't alsocome out ahead in draft capital!!!
