Hi everyone,

I hope you're excited about our Hackathon Yackathon tomorrow. I
wanted to let everyone know who has already signed up about what
we have planned, and to give anyone else who was thinking about
coming a heads-up about what to expect.

12:00 - 2:00 PM

To start, we will have casual, informal sharing of methods and
outcomes from previous hackathons we've each either organized or
participated in. Feel free to come and let us know about the best
(or worst) hackathon you've been to, what came out of it Some
things to think about: Why you are involved in hackathons? What
have been some outcomes? Personal, group vs. issue-oriented Was
everyone satisfied with the outcome? What you take away from the
experi= ence? Challenges of hackthons and sustaining communities
of interest Hacking as play, learning vs. civic engagement? So
basically, strengths and shortcomings of methods and
outcomes. We'll be having pizza at some point too! After this,
the main program starts

2:00 - Welcome - Introductions from organizers, describing the agenda, sta=
rting the Google Hangout space, etc

2:15 - Panel Discussion - Hackathons Methodologies, Tools + Practices

3:00 - Coffee Break

3:15 - Panel Discussion - Hacking as Civic Engagement

4:00 - Hack a Better Hackathon. Discuss, Show & Tell

Our goal here is to help answer two questions: How to run a
better hackathon, and how to be a better hackathon
participant. The idea is you'll be able to walk away with
something you can use in the future!

Again, our location is Wollman Hall at Eugene Lang College,
The New School, 65 W 11th Street. Looking forward to seeing you
there!
