Hello,
first: Is here anybody? ...body? ...ody? ...dy? ;)
then: Since a few minutes, the command 'file' shows for my x86-64 ELF files a
build ID like this:

a.out: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked
(uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.26,
BuildID[sha1]=0x78b11b8a7b5f831e10d649b2f8309f6bb638f794, not stripped

I can't remember that this appeared before today. Is it maybe related to the
gcc-4.6 upgrade to 4.6.1-4 (debian testing)? Well, it is not disturbing, but
I'm wondering why it appears now (maybe after this really small upgrade). Can
someone tell me something about this BuildID feature?

Thx,

Nearly dead. Mostly spam now. Few posts relevant to C++ since 2009.

A few newsgroups you may find more useful:

gnu.g++.help
comp.lang.c++
comp.lang.c++.moderated
