Hello. I am trying to compile emacs-19.28 on my dos machine. I have
downloaded emacs-19.28.tar.gz from prep.ai.mit.edu to my linux box. When I
tried to copy it over, there were several files with a dot as the first
character of the filename. I was wondering what I should do with these
files. Is it customary to rename them to have an underscore replacing the
dot?

Is there an easier way to do this, beside having to download all of
djgpp, and its related utilities?

Could someone provide some pointers on how to do this?

Please mail me direct with any ideas, as I am no longer on this list.

Thanks much,

No. Please post to this list. I'll be trying the same thing soon...
