In my .emacs I did put the following lines:
(font-lock-add-keywords
'c-mode
'(("\\<\\(FIXME\\):" 1 font-lock-warning-face t)))
(font-lock-add-keywords
'LaTeX-mode
'(("\\<\\(FIXME\\):" 1 font-lock-warning-face t)))
For the c-mode this worked fine but on LaTeX-mode I had no reaction in
the way I would expect.
What I really want is to highlight greek
symbols (\alpha, \beta, etc..)
What is the solution?

Perhaps you mean 'latex-mode.
No, I am using auctex and the mode is NOT latex-mode,
but LaTeX-mode and they both act in different ways.
Try auctex! I migrated from latex-mode to auctex and after 2 days
I was used to the different keybindings and now I would never change
again.

[I wish people wouldn't mail copies of posts with no indication.]
For others' benefit: I stand by the comment -- at least for the AUCTeX
version I use -- noting the difference between `major-mode' and
`mode-name'.
Yes, BUT NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT:
A call of (describe-function 'LaTeX-mode) gives
LaTeX-mode is alias for `latex-mode'.
Major mode for editing files of input for LaTeX.
See info under AUC TeX for full documentation.
So we both seem to be right and we are talking about the same mode
HEADACHE:
When I tried to get configured I wrote an add-hook for
latex-mode (better: I used the one I had)
(add-hook 'latex-mode-hook
'(lambda ()
(auto-fill-mode 1)
(outline-minor-mode 1)
))
My emacs would NEVER react upon the auto-fill-stuff et al.
so I changed latex-mode-hook to LaTeX-mode-hook and emacs did what
I wanted. That's why I thought there is a difference.
Maybe there are some conflicts in my .emacs, but they are obsolete
by now, whith LaTeX-mode-hook I can do it. (Never think about bugs
which will disappear in emacs-21 ...
By the way: What happens whith font-lock-add-keywords in YOUR
environment (This is the question I REALLY have) ?
Bye, Markus
